Yesterday, the International Code Council kicked off the 43rd annual Building Safety Month. The campaign raises awareness about the importance of building codes and the role that building safety professionals play in keeping our communities safe. Building Safety Month includes five weekly themes, each addressing how building safety impacts us on a personal, local, and global level.

Week One: Building Safety Starts at Home, provides tips on fire prevention, backyard and pool safety, and best practices for saving energy.

“Building Safety Month is a great opportunity for us to connect with a wider audience, and this week we’re reaching homeowners and renters,” says President of the Code Council Board of Directors Michael Wich, CBO. We want them to know that there are simple things they can do right now to ensure safety right in their own backyards. We hope to reach as many people as we can with that message.”

2023 Building Safety Month sponsors include the American Gas Association, Society of Fire Protection Engineers, National Multifamily Housing Council, and more. To learn more about sponsorship opportunities, click here.
