Wanting a new look for his old concrete tile roof, the homeowner chose Dutch Seam in Dove Grey 24-gauge steel from ATAS International Inc. The roof panels have a smooth finish and are 15-inches wide with a seam height of 1 1/2 inches.
Dutch Seam is a continuous standing-seam panel with an integral seam. It is an engineered wind- and rain-resistant panel system, designed for strength and durability. The integral lock, seam design, and clip prevent rotation of the seam and provide a stronger interlock during an uplift event. The light-gray color with cool paint pigments will help to reflect the sun’s rays in Southern California; the panels feature a solar reflectance index of 55.
The home’s intricate roof included several roof penetrations and cupolas, as well as varying roof planes and angles. Consequently, the project was recognized as the first-place winner in ATAS International’s 2021 Project of the Year competition in the Residential Roofs category.
