Solatube International, a Kingspan Light + Air company and a worldwide manufacturer and marketer of Tubular Daylighting Devices (TDDs), has been awarded the highly coveted innovator certification by the California Green Business Network for its two facilities in Vista, Calif. The certification reflects Solatube’s unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability and recognizes the company’s implementation of innovative strategies and best practices for reducing its environmental impact.

The City of Carlsbad Green Business Program is a voluntary certification program designed to help businesses adopt environmentally sustainable practices and operate in a more efficient, cost-effective manner. The program evaluates businesses based on their commitment to improving employee wellness, energy conservation, water conservation, waste reduction, pollution prevention and other environmental initiatives.

Solatube has implemented several meaningful measures at its Oak Ridge Way and Cousteau Court facilities to earn this prestigious certification, including enhancing recycling and composting programs, reducing computer and printer usage, using green-certified products, installing water efficient fixtures and using integrated pest management for pest control services. The company has also been diligent in properly storing and disposing of hazardous waste, using materials with recycled content and eliminating the use of single-use plastic. As a result of these efforts, Solatube has been recognized as an industry leader in environmental sustainability and was celebrated at the City of Carlsbad green business mixer on May 10, 2023.

“We are proud to be recognized as a certified green business by the Carlsbad Green Business Program for our two facilities in Vista and to now be members of the California Green Business Network,” says Solatube International President Robert E. Westfall Jr. “At Solatube, we are committed to reducing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices in every aspect of our business. This certification is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our employees and our commitment to sustainability.”

The company’s commitment to sustainability extends beyond its facilities in Vista, Calif. Solatube has implemented sustainable practices in all aspects of its business operations, from manufacturing to shipping to product design. The company’s innovative products, such as the Solatube Daylighting System, which provides natural daylight to buildings, have also helped to promote sustainable building practices and reduce energy consumption.
