ATAS Employees Construct Shelters for Flint Hill Farm in Volunteer Initiative

The Volunteer Challenge is an annual event organized by the Volunteer Center of the Lehigh Valley. It is the biggest mobilization of corporate teams working together with local nonprofits to deliver sustainable, high-impact projects that make a real difference.

A total of 40 businesses and their corporate teams came together to support 40 local nonprofits and raise a record $91,000. It was the 16th year of this annual event. The teams collaborated closely with their nonprofit partner to design and execute service projects, from facility improvements and outdoor beautification to digital marketing support.

Using ATAS International’s metal materials and plywood, the ATAS team built lean-to shelters and reconstructed the existing pig shed at the Flint Hill Farm Educational Center. The lean-tos provide shelter for the baby goats, lambs, and calves as they grow up on the farm.

Miya Coodey, Administrative and Communications Assistant at ATAS, and of ATAS’ wellness committee, said, “This volunteer opportunity brought together a group of great ATAS volunteers who showed their care and dedication for Kathy and all the great work she is doing at Flint Hill Farm. I’m grateful to each and every volunteer who put in the time and labor to help our project come together and make a positive impact in our community! Pat Reinhart, Joe Woodland, Mark Bus, Melissa Arranz, Dave Anthony, Luis Delgado, Juan Negron, Rafael Martinez, and Wendi and Gunnar Kirchner. Thank you all for dedicating your time to make this project happen. ”

The Volunteer Challenge’s impact was celebrated with each of the teams and their nonprofit partner showcasing their work at a celebratory event at ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks, where the teams were honored for their work.
