The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has released a new North American security screen standard, “Specification for Security Screen Products,” AAMA 1901-25. This standard defines expected performance from products marketed as security screens, and it represents an important step in formally bringing awareness to this unique product category in the window and door industry.
With homeowners increasingly seeking to enhance the security of their properties, the standard is timely. Security screens offer traditional benefits like insect deterrence, visibility and fresh air flow, while providing enhanced protection via high-tensile, stainless steel woven mesh.
