Anchor Posts Easily into Shallow Concrete Slabs over Corrugated Steel or Composite Decks

Feeney, a manufacturer of high-performance architectural products, is proud to announce the launch of its Concrete Embed Post Anchoring System, a patented innovation engineered to address the longstanding challenges of anchoring posts in shallow concrete slabs over corrugated steel decking or composite decks, as well as post-tension slabs (Patent U.S. 11,199,019 B1).

Traditional anchoring methods, such as mechanical anchors and weld plates, often present installation issues, including concrete breakout, embed depth limitations, drilling inaccuracies, rebar and tendon cable conflicts, labor-intensive processes, concrete dust, and the inability to weld aluminum posts to steel structures. Feeney’s Concrete Embed Post Anchoring System eliminates these pain points with a streamlined, cast-in-place solution that is efficient, cost-effective, and engineered for structural performance.

The butterfly-shaped embed plate is precision-designed to align with Feeney’s standard 5- by 5-inch DesignRail base plates, ensuring seamless compatibility and simplified installation. Engineered and tested to support a 50 plf uniform load at 5-feet on-center post spacing, per IBC requirements, the system provides secure and reliable performance not only for concrete slab applications but also for retaining walls with a minimum 9” width.

The Concrete Embed Post Anchoring System is designed with efficiency in mind. Post locations are pre-planned and aligned using an included locating arm, which attaches directly to the formwork for accurate placement. The system also allows for adjustable embed depth, ensuring posts are properly positioned before the concrete pour. Once the concrete is poured and cured, the locating arms are removed, leaving the embed plate perfectly flush with the slab. From there, posts can be quickly and securely fastened to the plate using standard supplied hardware, streamlining the installation process while maintaining structural integrity.

The embed system was engineered to work in conjunction with DesignRail aluminum railing and ensure maximum safety and reliability. To verify its performance, the system underwent rigorous testing and third-party engineering design validation. The results demonstrated that the product meets and exceeds building code requirements.

The launch of the Concrete Embed Post Anchoring System underscores Feeney’s commitment to innovation, safety, and problem-solving design. By addressing common installation challenges with a patented solution, Feeney continues its legacy of developing architectural products that combine style, structure, and high performance.
