Leviton has launched its Enclosed Main Breaker Disconnect, the latest addition to the Leviton Load Center product line. The new solution is designed to help builders and contractors meet the latest National Electrical Code (NEC) 2020 Section 230.85 requirement, which mandates an exterior disconnect for residential applications.

The Enclosed Main Breaker Disconnect provides a safe, code-compliant way to shut off power to an entire residence from outside the home, an essential feature for first responders during emergencies such as fires, floods or natural disasters. While the product is required for new construction in states that have adopted NEC 2020, it is ideal for all new residential construction, renovation projects requiring electrical upgrades, and for those seeking to future-proof installations with the latest safety features.

Designed to offer customization and flexibility, Leviton’s Enclosed Main Breaker Disconnect is available with or without a 200A main breaker included, allowing contractors to install a main breaker with an amperage rating of their choosing. Both product versions include NEC-approved labeling for Service and Emergency Disconnect applications. The Enclosed Main Breaker also works seamlessly with other manufacturers’ main service panels, in addition to Leviton Load Centers.

    Leviton Load Center Advantage

The new Enclosed Main Breaker Disconnect products expand on Leviton’s existing portfolio of durable and easy-to-install load center solutions. Leviton circuit breakers feature a plug-on design, increasing productivity and reducing installation time by up to 25 percent. Also available with outdoor enclosures, Leviton panels can be installed in a variety of climates and are protected against environmental factors.
