Lochinvar is proudly celebrating 20 years of the Knight Residential Boiler. The leading residential boiler line has undergone six different iterations since its introduction in 2005. Evolving with industry trends and advancements in technology, the Knight boiler fits a variety of residential and light commercial application needs.

The Knight Heating Boiler, its original name, was created to offer a feature rich solution to residential heating needs by allowing multiple units to be controlled by one boiler. The original iteration featured a 5:1 turndown and up to 93 percent AFUE. Since then, the unit has progressed to a 10:1 turndown ratio and up to 95 percent AFUE.

The Knight boiler’s compact, lightweight design has remained consistent, allowing contractors to rely on the product for reliable, easy installation. These features have inspired multiple accolades since the Knight boiler was launched. Most notably, the Knight Heating Boiler was awarded the Silver Excellence In Design (EID) award in the HVAC category in Appliance Design magazine’s 19th Annual EID Competition.

“Knight has significantly impacted the residential boiler industry since its introduction 20 years ago. It is widely recognized as the gold standard for installation flexibility and ease of serviceability,” said Mike Lahti, vice president of sales, marketing and business development at Lochinvar. “The Knight boiler family is a testament to Lochinvar’s dedication to constantly innovating our technology. Throughout the last two decades, this unit has evolved to meet the varying needs of customers with the introduction of new models and features. We look forward to many more years of producing leading technology within the industry.”

The Knight family now offers multiple floor and wall mount models, as well as the Knight XL boiler, which excels in commercial applications. All Knight models can be cascaded together for an increased output and come standard with CON·X·US®Remote Connectivity and SMART TOUCH. This operating control technology provides contractors and facility managers with connectivity and system control for easy monitoring and adjustments. All Knight boilers are manufactured with high-quality components, including a corrosion-resistant stainless steel fire-tube heat exchanger and a negative regulation combustion system. Additionally, each KNIGHT boiler is packaged with a variable-speed ECM circulator, which improves day-to-day operational efficiency and can save up to 90 percent on operational costs over a conventional circulator.
