The American Concrete Institute (ACI) has announced that ACI CODE-440.11-22: Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete Reinforced with Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Bars—Code and Commentary is now available through the ACI PLUS Platform, providing subscribers with an enhanced digital experience for accessing and applying this important structural concrete code.

ACI CODE-440.11-22 establishes minimum requirements for the materials, design, and detailing of structural concrete buildings and, where applicable, nonbuilding structures reinforced with GFRP bars that conform to the requirements of ASTM D7957-22. Developed through ACI’s consensus process, the code addresses structural systems, members, and connections, including cast-in-place, precast, nonprestressed, and composite construction.

The addition of ACI CODE-440.11 to the ACI PLUS Platform reflects ACI’s ongoing commitment to delivering industry-leading technical resources through modern, user-friendly digital tools.

Additionally, the PLUS platform version includes integrated access with the ACI GFRP Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook, MNL-7 (23). The GFRP Reinforced Concrete Design Handbook is a vital reference for professionals interested in the use of non-metallic GFRP reinforcement for concrete structures. It is meant to provide valuable insight to structural engineers on understanding and utilizing the provisions of “Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete Reinforced with Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) Bars” (ACI CODE 440.11). Links to example problems in MNL-7(23) are also provided directly from the code to the manual.

“Engineers and designers working with GFRP reinforcement need fast, reliable access to critical code provisions and supporting information,” said Mike Tholen, ACI senior managing director, Technical Operations. “By bringing ACI CODE-440.11 to the ACI PLUS Platform, users can navigate requirements more efficiently, connect related resources instantly, and gain a deeper understanding of the code through an interactive digital environment.”

More than a digital library, the ACI PLUS Platform is designed to help professionals work smarter. Subscribers benefit from advanced search functionality that allows users to quickly locate provisions by keyword, topic, or section; interactive note-taking capabilities that support project-specific documentation and collaboration; and linked reference materials that connect users directly to related ACI resources without leaving the platform. The platform is regularly updated to ensure users have access to the latest editions, supplemental materials, and technical content.

Branded the ACI 440.11 PLUS Platform, key benefits of accessing ACI CODE-440.11 through the digital technology include:

    • Faster navigation of code requirements through advanced search tools.
    • Improved productivity with searchable, organized notes and annotations.
    • Immediate access to related ACI publications and reference materials through integrated links.
    • A streamlined, all-in-one environment for exploring, understanding, and applying ACI technical resources.
