Western Architectural Openings, a national provider of large-format glass walls, architectural doors, and luxury window systems, recently served as a series sponsor of season six of America ByDESIGN, with many of the brand’s iconic products being featured in episodes throughout the season. America ByDESIGN is a half-hour television program that exclusively showcases some of the best modern American architecture by members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA).

The show was broadcast on CBS News (New York Livestream) from May 9 through July 25, and full episodes are available on the America ByDESIGN website and YouTube channel. Each episode celebrated the creativity, diversity, and possibilities of human ingenuity, exploring the architectural marvels that define who we are and inspire the future.

Western products were prominently showcased throughout season six, including:

    • Episode One:
      • Light House in Tucson, Arizona, focused on maximizing views with minimal sightlines and refined details. Products from Western’s Classic Line were used to bridge old and new styles in the classic property.
      • “Western Architectural Openings was an essential partner in our realizing the transformation of a 1950s home for the 21st Century,” said Michael Kothke, Architect and Founding Principal of HK Associates. “We really value having Western as a partner in helping us realize our designs.”
      • Washington Township Fire Station in Centerville, Ohio, had a focus on creating a window wall in its fitness room to bring the outdoors in. For this project, Western’s Series 9550 Bi-Fold Door was utilized.
    • Episode Three:
      • Real House in Tucson, Arizona, focused on framing spectacular desert views. Casement windows and multi-slide doors by Western were used to emphasize the framing of spectacular desert views and blend indoor and outdoor spaces.
    • Episode Four:
      • Owl House in Petaluma, California, was designed to get away from the noise and wind and featured Western products to highlight the surrounding views.
      • “We nestled this house into the site to block the wind and the noise,” said Mary Dooley, Principal Designer for MAD Architecture. “We have this incredible view looking into the pasturelands, so we used Western Architectural Openings to capture that view. The views inside are beautifully framed.”
    • Episode Five:
      • Ventana House in Tucson, Arizona, focused on windows playing a central role in the home’s overall design. The property used Western’s windows and floor-to-ceiling multi-slide doors to create the illusion of connection to the outdoors.
    • Episode Eight:
      • Fold House in Berkeley, California featured stunning hillside views of the San Francisco Bay. Western’s Vantage line contributed to the property’s minimalist sightlines and modern aesthetic while meeting California energy requirements.

“We were incredibly honored to support America ByDESIGN this season as a series sponsor,” said Brian Leizerowicz, Vice President of Sales for Western Architectural Openings. “The show offers a rare opportunity to showcase the extraordinary homes and visionary architects shaping the future of design in America, and it was exciting to see our products incorporated into many of the featured projects. It is a true testament to what can happen when architects, builders, and manufacturers collaborate, which ultimately results in exceptional design concepts that turn into beautiful, livable spaces.”

America ByDESIGN Season 7 began on August 1, with Western returning as a sponsor of the program and contributing its window and door products to many of the projects.
