Bendheim Receives Federal Trademark Registration for GripGlaze Glass System

Bendheim, a global provider of specialty and sustainable architectural glass solutions, has received federal trademark registration for its innovative GripGlaze glass system. This is an important milestone for a technology developed to simplify the installation of large architectural glass panels while providing architects greater design freedom.

The United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued U.S. Trademark Registration No. 8,388,716 for GripGlaze to Bendheim LLC. The registration establishes GripGlaze as a federally protected Bendheim trademark and reflects the growing importance of the system within the company’s portfolio of engineered architectural glass solutions.

“GripGlaze represents exactly the type of innovation we want Bendheim to be known for—taking a complicated architectural challenge and finding a simpler, more elegant way to solve it,” said Said Elieh, Bendheim’s Vice President of Innovation. “Securing the GripGlaze trademark is an important step as we continue to develop the system and expand the ways it can be used by architects, contractors, and glaziers.”

Introduced in 2025, GripGlaze was developed as an alternative to traditional glass attachment systems that can require holes, notches and complex hardware. At the heart of the system is a low-profile, precision engineered aluminum fastener that secures glass panels through compression. The compression fasteners mount directly to the supporting structure, eliminating the need to drill or notch the glass. The approach can reduce fabrication requirements, simplify and speed field installation, give installers greater flexibility in positioning glass panels, and significantly reduce project costs. The result is a system that addresses both the practical and aesthetic sides of architectural glass design: making large glass panels easier to install while minimizing the visual impact of the supporting hardware.

That simplicity can be particularly valuable on large or complex projects, where fabrication errors or field misalignment can increase costs and affect construction schedules.

“Architects increasingly want expansive glass surfaces with as little visible supporting hardware as possible, but those designs also have to be practical to fabricate and install,” Elieh said. “GripGlaze was created to bring those two objectives together.”

Bendheim sees GripGlaze as more than an individual hardware component. The company is developing GripGlaze as a broader platform for exterior architectural glass systems and applications. The federal trademark registration is an important step in establishing that identity.

For Bendheim, which has spent decades developing specialty architectural glass and engineered glass systems, GripGlaze also represents the company’s continuing evolution from a specialty glass supplier into a partner that helps architects and contractors solve increasingly complex building-envelope and architectural challenges.

“Glass technology isn’t just about the glass itself anymore,” Elieh said. “It is also about how the glass is engineered, supported and installed. GripGlaze gives us another tool for helping design teams use glass in ways that are visually ambitious, structurally sound and practical to build.”
