MATERIALS
For the design of the pool house’s interior and its outdoor shower, the design team searched for high-quality plumbing fittings and accessories that were bold and rustic, complementing the rural simplicity of the building.
For the outdoor shower, it was particularly important to find copper fittings that would relate to the copper architectural details of the building exterior. For the interior, the darker bronze finish provides a crisp contrast to the white-washed pine walls. Coordinated cabinet hardware, hooks and accessories provide touches of the distinctive style throughout the building.

THE RETROFIT
The owners of a scenic 70-acre retreat, sited on a hilltop affording distant views of Mount Tom, wanted to create an entertainment oasis for themselves and for guests. The design team converted an existing barn on the property into an arcade with a billiards room, movie theater and pub. The team also renovated a guesthouse for the comfort of visitors while building some new structures on the property, including a post-and-beam barn for a collection of classic cars. The last piece of the puzzle was the pool house.
Clad in silver weathered siding and punctuated by crisp copper overhangs and lanterns, the simple form takes it cues from the surrounding historic barns, in a more contemporary vocabulary.
